Backend Developer
(Python/Django)

About the role

SmartShop is an Apple Developer account provider for developers, app studios, and media buying teams. We have been operating since 2024 and have already delivered more than 2,000 accounts to our clients. We develop our own products, website, internal services, and mobile applications.

We are looking for a Backend Developer who will develop and maintain our products, website, and mobile applications. You will work under the guidance of the Development Lead, who will help you get familiar with the projects, understand the tasks, and provide ongoing support throughout your work.

We are open to candidates without previous commercial experience. Practical skills are more important to us, including personal, educational, or freelance projects in which you have independently worked with Python, Django, databases, and APIs.

We actively use Claude and Claude Code in our development process, so practical experience with them or other AI tools is required. You should be able to give AI clear instructions, analyze the proposed solutions, and review the generated code.

What you will be doing

• Develop and maintain the backend for SmartShop products, the website, and mobile applications.
• Create server-side logic and new functionality using Python and Django.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs for communication with the website, frontend, and mobile applications.
• Work with databases by creating and modifying models, executing queries, and processing data.
• Integrate the backend with third-party services and APIs.
• Fix bugs, improve existing functionality, and participate in solution testing.
• Work closely with the Development Lead and other team members.
• Use Claude, Claude Code, and other AI tools to accelerate development, analyze tasks, and find solutions.

What is important to us

• Practical Python programming experience.
• Experience developing projects with Django.
• An understanding of REST API principles.
• Basic knowledge of databases and the ability to work with them.
• A basic understanding of frontend development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Practical experience using Claude, Claude Code, or other AI tools in development.
• The ability to understand, review, and improve code generated with AI tools.
• Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian.
• Intermediate English or higher, sufficient for working with interfaces, instructions, documentation, and technical materials.
• The ability to understand tasks independently and find solutions.
• Attention to detail, responsibility, and openness to feedback.
• A desire to learn and develop in backend development.

💡 Previous commercial experience is not required. We are open to junior developers and students who have practical projects and a sufficient level of technical knowledge.
